Emily Barrosse, Founder & CEO

Emily Barrosse is founder and CEO of Bold Story Press, a publishing house for women authors who want to share their stories with the world.

Emily spent the first 32 years of her career in the publishing industry. As Vice President and Editor in Chief at McGraw Hill, she transformed the sluggish culture into a competitive, hungry, growth-driven business. Fueled by explosive creativity, her division quadrupled signings of new books with innovative content for the future.

In 2002, Emily published Greg Mankiw’s Principles of Economics, the single most successful first edition college textbook ever published. The innovative editorial and marketing strategy she designed and led resulted in record-breaking sales and profits.


Cathy Bamji Operations Manager

For over twenty years Cathy has worked as as a business consultant, facilitator and project manager, helping clients understand, document, and improve the way they do their work. She now channels these skills into supporting the overall operations at Bold Story Press - working with authors and staff alike as they bring books to market.

Cathy has a Bachelor of Science in Management Science & Finance from the University of South Carolina and is a Board Certified Coach. When not working, she facilitates grief workshops, and hangs out with her grown kids, husband, and dog.

Production Group

Christine O’Connor, Production Manager

Christine has worked in book publishing for almost 20 years, specifically as a Production and Managing Editor of nonfiction books.   She previously worked at Wiley in the Professional Technology and Jossey Bass divisions.  She was production editor on several franchise titles. Christine has also been a freelance proofreader for five years. 

She has an MS in Publishing from Pace University and a Mass Communications degree from King’s College.  


Karen Polaski, Book Designer

Karen, a college dropout and award-winning art director, has deep experience designing almost everything from business cards to stage sets. She has been a one-woman creative shop offering graphic design and copywriting, and a leader of publishing creative teams. Karen now concentrates on editorial design, crafting books that delight authors and readers alike.


Julianna Scott Fein, Director of Production

Julianna is an expert when it comes to book production. With her years of experience producing best-selling books, she earned her chops one book at a time. Julianna not only keeps the books on schedule, she lovingly walks each book through the production process ensuring they will be beautifully and professionally produced.


Laurie Entringer, Book Designer

Laurie is a skilled book cover and book interior designer and before partnering with us at Bold Story Press, Laurie gained her experience working in traditional publishing on hundreds of published books. 


Beth Martin, Book Formatter

Beth writes sci-fi stories and puzzle books and has worked in publishing for over six years. She offers book formatting services focusing on beautifully balanced designs that support the text without distracting from the story.

Beth has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Georgia Tech. When not thinking about books, she plays the piano, solves logic puzzles, pets her fluffy cats, and chases her two kids.

Editorial Group

Karen Gulliver Editorial Director

Karen has worked in the publishing industry for her entire career, including developmental editing, copyediting, and production for many best-selling non-fiction books. She has worked as a freelancer for different publishers, among them Pearson, Macmillan, and Simon & Schuster.

Karen’s background includes an undergraduate degree in Creative Writing, a graduate degree in English Literature, and a certificate of studies in film from the University of Montpellier in France. In her free time, Karen keeps up with two book groups, and enjoys cooking and gardening.


Nedah Rose, Senior Editor

Nedah has worked in the publishing industry for her entire career, as both a product manager and a developmental editor in a variety of disciplines. She has signed, edited, and marketed a number of best-selling nonfiction books.

 She has a Master of Arts in English Literature from the University of Texas at Austin. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, and having dinner with friends.  She is involved in a number of volunteer activities.


Salimah Perkins, Editor

Salimah has been a professional education editor and writer for more than 25 years. With a Bachelor of Arts in English from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a Master of Arts in Writing from the Johns Hopkins University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and Publishing Design from the University of Baltimore, she has continued to develop and refine her editorial skills and understands how to shepherd an author’s work.

Marketing Group

Gail Zoppo, Social Media Guru

Gail has nearly three decades of experience in communications -- as a magazine editor, PR strategist, and social-media manager -- and has represented corporations, small businesses, and nonprofits to help build their capacity. She specializes in diversity and inclusion, global health human rights, and gender equality.


Miranda Gentin, Intern

Miranda enjoys helping women with many elements in the book publishing and publicity world. These include but are not limited to building/designing websites, managing social media, planning book launches, marketing, and more.

She is a sophomore at Emory University.


Grace Cross, Intern

Grace is a recent graduate of Kenyon College where she studied Spanish, English, and Italian literature. She has worked as an Associate for The Kenyon Review, an editor for A medio camino magazine, and a copy editor for the Kenyon Collegian. Her passions include woman-centered literature, poetry in translation, and the Oxford comma.
